30 April 2011 ~ Doors, Knockers and a Train Bound for Home

On our last day in Beijing, we met this wonderful woman from England who was touring through China and off to visit her daughter in Shanghai.
And we took one last walk through the hutongs.

Tree growing straight out of someone's home.

Many of the hutong residences do not have bathrooms or running water. The neighborhood's needs are met with public restrooms.

Our way "home"
Love it!
Back to the hotel to check out and head to our real home...Dalian.

Front door to our hotel
Reception area--waiting for our taxi to take us to the train station and getting in a little Internet time.
Ticket on night train bound for Dalian 390 RMB, $60.00...much cheaper than flying!

Beijing Railway Station

Good thing we knew how to read "Dalian" in Chinese Characters. Train Z79 departing at 8:50 pm.

Russell...happy to be in our little soft sleeper cabin and heading home.
While shopping at the Silk Market, Sid bought a quillow. A pillow that turns into...
a quilt! Perfect for the night train.
Good night Beijing! See you next time.
