It's the eeriest thing, there are very few wild critters one sees while living in China. I've been on many hikes around the area and I have yet to see a lizard, a butterfly, a deer, or even a cute little squirrel scampering around in the hills. There is one bird, however, that is quite abundant in these parts and that is the magpie. You see these big ol' nests in just about every other tree, and in the winter, they really stand out.
