9 October 2010 ~ Wedding Fireworks

About a month ago, Nancy and I were walking through Five Color City in Kaifaqu when we came across a wedding procession headed for this hotel, so we stopped to witness Chinese wedding traditions first hand. Fireworks and firecrackers are big in China, for any occasion, at any time, especially weddings. Where we throw rice, they blow up M80 size firecrackers. As you wander the streets of the major towns, you'll see many of these pink arches in front of buildings that the bride and groom walk under as they enter. Under this particular arch, you'll see the firecrackers laid out in the shape of a heart.
The bridesmaids...love the variety of shoes.
The bride and groom arrived and, as they stayed in the safety of the car, the firecrackers were lit.
The sound was deafening.

The display went on for at least a full minute as the heart boomed
away and went up in smoke.
The aftermath...
Then out came the bride and groom. Isn't she sweet? : )
